Our Vision: We have set out to solve the problem of dearness in price for the commuter, by advocating smartness and diligence and by providing speedy and swift service. Our Mission: 1;To achieve our vision through continuous innovation using latest mobile technology.2;To provide more value added services useful to the common man, thereby arming him with an intelligent application. 3;To facilitate an altogether safer and cheaper commute for the user. Current Situation: The daily commuters in auto rickshaws (a very popular means of public transport in all cities in India and other developing countries) face several problems. The biggest pain point is meter-tampering [1] by auto owners and drivers. Apart from this, most common pain, several incidents of crimes like robbery [2], kidnap, rape [3], and murder [4], perpetrated on commuters. There’re also the twin problems of rising fuel costs and the ecological impact from auto emissions. Suruk is our answer to these problems. At the same time, not [5] all auto drivers are bad, and the system needs to reward [6] them with more hires, tips, and awards Our Solution: Suruk arms the daily commuter, with a mobile app that meters their rides , letting them decide midway whether to switch to another autorickshaws, tracks their routes to ensure they’re not [5] being driven elsewhere; and enables them to share their rides with like-minded friends ; making their rides safer and cheaper. It also allows them rate autorickshaws as well as chooses them based on previous ratings by fellow commuters. Where are we now? Suruk is already launched and available in Bangalore, India. Since the rate slabs can be configured by commuter, the application can be downloaded and used anywhere after configuring the rates for corresponding places. Reference Links: [1]

Why is the project unique?

Though the technique to find commute distance has been known and applied in other applications like the Nike app for athlete training etc., our advantage is that we have thought through the problem of auto rickshaw/taxi commuters in developing countries and developed this app. This problem is peculiar to developing nations which we like to call the “Bajaj countries” i.e. countries where Bajaj autos have a market.
