Description
Every nation needs sources of inspiration, which are those people who serve their motherland with their creative mind and devotion to ideals of peace, humanity and social justice. “Gunijan” is an initiative to present personalities in Bangladesh, who inspire new generation through their writings, words, scientific and artistic works and other creative pursuits. The programme for inspiration inspire the new genera¬tions to show their best as patriots of the motherland. The main product of the initiative is dynamic website www.gunian.org.bd, where one can find profiles, creative works, photographs, video, interview and other information about eminent people presented by category. The homepage highlights news about Gunijan. The initiative is run by contribution from only individual and corporate citizens originated in Bangladesh. Thus, it is truly a national initiative, without any donor dependence. No person with history of collaboration with War criminals, loan defaulters, and with direct linkage with political parties are not eligible for nomination. For accessing everybody in the country the initiative also publishes CD-ROM version of the website. For people without Internet connection the programme is going to publish album. For the main target audience of the imitative school programme is being organized in schools of Bangladesh. The progamme also organizes annual Digital Exhibition of eminent persons.
What we deliver
The website contains the biography, photography, audio interview, video film, writings about the eminent, works of the eminent, news about the eminent, about the contributors etc.
Whom we deliver
Website: the website has menus, with which one can find different categories. Anyone can click any category as per one’s choice and can read the biography of the person, see her/his photography, video clip, hear audio interview and read articles of her/his own or written about her/him. One can also read different news about the eminent personalities on the homepage. The list of eminent personalities is also on the website, so that anyone can see with whom the programme is working and can nominee eminent personalities for inclusion in the list. On the homepage, there is option for contribution, by which one can contribute for the programme. There is history of the programme, which can be clicked to know. Anyone can send her/his opinion about the website by clicking the option. CD-ROM: In the CD, there are biography, photography, audio interview, video clip, articles of the eminents and articles about them. The CD starts with a logo song, sung by a prominent singer of the country.
Why is the project unique?
It is unique, because: 1. this is the only website of this kind in Bangladesh in local language, Bangla. 2. The power of Internet is being used to create an online repository of real materials from the eminent personalities, which works as a permanent archive of the nation. 3. The programme relies not only on Internet, but combines the other channels of delivery, like CD-ROM, print, digital exhibitions, school programmes.
Roadmap
Content is the heart of how technology is relevant to common people. Local language content can enhance opportunities for all segments of people, particularly who are marginalized.
