What we deliver
• Quick dissemination of the information • Reducing gap between Farmer and Lab, universities, market, business houses • On demand knowledge transfer and necessary facilitation • To leverage extensive telecom infrastructure rollout to deliver extension services to the farming community
Why is the project unique?
Extreme poverty in many underdeveloped regions of the our country, high costs of internet access and social constraints continue to stifle creative expression and socio-economic advancement. Access to this Kisan Call Centre is crucial in bridging the digital divide as a key foundation of development, for rural development in particular. Creating local capacity, stimulating ingenuity and innovation and boosting human skills and performance are also critical factors in connecting rural communities to the global information and communication network. We have made this concept work in Madhya Pradesh, similarly at state and national level also this can be made operational.
Roadmap
Technology and infrastructure are never ends in themselves. However, when it comes to fighting poverty, they play a pivotal role. Telecommunications and information technologies in particular are offering new ways to address old and stubborn obstacles to development. Yet the presence of telecommunications lines, computers, or even Internet connectivity is not a sufficient condition in itself to turn such technologies into instruments of development. In the absence of relevant applications in health, education, governance, or employment, many high-tech white elephants are likely to emerge. The ultimate reason to devote resources to information technologies rests in their development impact, their socio-economic value, their ability to empower, access to knowledge, knowledge sharing and their contribution to job creation and competitiveness.
