M banking on USSD
Description
The M-Banking functionality has been made keeping focus on building a consistent process and approach for mobile banking across all the geographies where there may or may not be a bank infrastructure. SBI and Spice Digital have joined hands to provide M-Banking Services to SBI’s customer over USSD. Since USSD is the masses platform, thus the whole concept becomes more imperative towards the successful replication of current M-Banking services on this platform. Once user dials *595# through the handset appropriate screen is thrown on his handset for collecting transaction details based on the option selected by the subscriber. Once M-Banking system receives all the details and authenticates the subscriber then the M-Banking system processes the request. The transaction response will be parsed and displayed on the screen or will be sent to the subscriber as SMS as well. The error message screen will be displayed in case of any response time out at any instance of time and proper messages will be displayed on the screen as per the event failure.

Why is the project unique?
1.User do not require any high handset or expensive data plans to use the service 2. Free browsing for the users till the actual transaction happens 3. Global Roaming Support, no extra roaming charges 4. Turnaround response is session oriented, unlike SMS, which is a store-and-forward. Transaction-oriented service response time for interactive applications is shorter for USSD than SMS because of the session-based feature of USSD 5. More message length (182 char in comparison to 160 char in SMS) 6. Flexibility of Service Type ( Service can be easily fetched on a real time basis from the application server) 7. WAP like experience with no handset constraint.
