Description
Every year India is in need of 40 million units of 250cc blood, unfortunately only a meager 5,000,000 of blood units are available, and in a day hundreds of people are dying due to lack of blood. The concept of mBlood is to help people who are in search for blood. mBlood is a free white labeled SMS based blood donors search service where users can search for blood donors by sending a single SMS. Anyone with a own short code like VAS provider, mobile operator, Newspaper, TV Channels who has a tie-up with mBlood can use the services of mBlood as their own service under their own SMS Short Code. All the services provided by mBlood are available as API and our partners can use these APIs for providing services from their own shortcode or wap services. For example if a Newspaper named XYZ has a short code as 51000, they can launch a blood donor search service within minutes by using the mBlood. In simple words mBlood is a centralized search engine or database of Blood Donors across all of India. Majority of the blood banks are located in Cities/Urban areas and it is very hard to find blood donors from rural areas. mBlood will provide a platform to search for blood donors across India, especially for those who are living in rural areas.
What we deliver
This is completely a utility product which is beneficial for all age groups across India. The services are offered as SMS and we also have started working on Wap service too.
Whom we deliver
This service is currently available in www.mblood.org. We have approached some Newspapers and TV Channels, out of that Mangalam Newspaper (a Kerala based daily) has shown interest in the project and had a couple of first level meetings.
Why is the project unique?
The 2 features which make mBlood unique are: 1. mBlood completely works over SMS. If you are in a situation where you are in hospital and your friend is in need blood which is not available in the blood bank, you can simply take your mobile phone and can search for the list available blood nearby by just sending a SMS. You will get the contact number of those donors immediately as SMS. 2. What will make mBlood an outstanding service is its API services. Anyone can launch a SMS based donor search but, it’s difficult to reach this service to the common people. mBlood provide its services as white labeled services, just like an open source service which allows the Media like TV Channels or Newspapers to promote this service as their own which will help to reach the details of this service to more people.
