The Health Education Bureau (HEB) is providing health education, health promotion and publicity information for the citizens of Sri Lanka. Still a significant portion of the Sri Lankan population is being unable to reach quality health information and advice. To address this problem the HEB has envisioned to build a web based trilingual health information service and advisory forum. A call centre is planned for the next stage of the project to include the health net servicers to the population with access to telephone also. From Health Net general public can access and seek necessary information according to individual needs. Servicers provided 1. Web based Health information (authored by specialists in relevant fields) 2. Health Advice and information through emails, text chat, skype, SMS and Voice calls (hotline/ dedicated short code access) -health issues problems will be discussed with HEB staff or respective specialists. 3. Access to information about the services and facilities available in government institutions and registered private institutes — online, email, chat ,Skype via voice calls to a hotline/ dedicated short code access or using SMS.

 What we deliver

The Health Net and Call Centre provide Health information and health advisory to public in all three languages (Sinhala, Tamil and English) in voice call and SMS modes. HEB will engage Its Medical Officers/ Specialist and Government sector Medical Specialists to register and provide advisory services. Content/servicers provided 1. Web based Health information (authored by Medical specialists in relevant fields) 2. Health Advice and information through emails, text chat, skype, SMS and Voice calls (hotline/ dedicated short code access) -health issues problems will be discussed with HEB staff or respective specialists. 3. Access to information about the services and facilities available in all government institutions (preventive and curative and registered private institutes online, email, chat ,Skype via voice calls to a hotline/ dedicated short code access or using SMS.

General public mainly aimed at Sri Lankan citizen and Sri Lankans living abroad.

 Why is the project unique?

The Health Education Bureau (HEB) of Sri Lanka is the key organization under the Ministry of Health responsible for providing health education, health promotion and publicity information for the citizens of Sri Lanka This programme is aimed at serving Sri Lankans by Sri Lankan Specialists. Health Net and the call centre will make available the health information service and health advisory services greater portion of Sri Lankan population, even beyond the limitations of internet access. There are no others Sri Lankan web sites which supply such a variety of reliable Health related Information for the Sri Lankan public.

 Roadmap

Establishment of project steering committee/ approve the concept. Involve sponsors through ICTA. Prepare Project Plan/ Solution Architecture with ICTA. Providing telephone connections. Engage Medical Officers and Medical Specialists for register and provide advisory services. Preparing Guidelines for Health Net Call Centre advisory service providers. Workshop for Call Centre advisory service providers. Set up and launch fully functional Call Centre. Extend the Servicers for Counseling and Quit Line. Research and analysis of archived collected interactive Question and Answer data
