Description

There is a great void in the capturing and dissemination of Urdu songs and stories, especially for children. Schools don’t have access to online or tech-savvy tools which can be used as teaching tools to help make urdu language learning fun. ToffeeTV helps to inspire the filling of this void.

What we deliver

The site delivers contents primarily in Urdu and some in English. The contents include 3 major categories: Songs, stories and activities for children.

Whom we deliver

We average about 100 people on the site each day, who spend close to 45 minutes browsing the contents. The demographic profile ranges from young children and a parent or teacher, to the parent or teacher who uses the site to prepare material to share with their young ones.

How is the project unique?

There are a handful of sites that generate content like ours and even those that do are either full of ads or have plagiarized contents. We use our own illustrations and original versions of songs and stories as best we can since the contents are simply not available.

Roadmap

The site contents are only available in Urdu and English right now but we’re in the process of pushing ToffeeTV as a franchise model to other countries and cultures to do a similar exercise with other languages. The long term vision is to show how similar an experience our children go through with respect to their culture as they grow up. These talks are in process and we’re aiming to have this phase of the project go live by 2013.
